Srinagar, Oct 24: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Friday said that “Design Your Degree” programme, in line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is the future of education and students.
Addressing the inaugural session of NEP Conclave 2025 at Amar Singh College here, LG Sinha said that the programme should be implemented in all colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I believe that DYD program is the future of education and students. It is beneficial at levels – be it school, college or university level,” LG Sinha said.
He said that the issues faced by the colleges in Jammu and Kashmir should also be discussed during the 2-day NEP conclave.
He said that there is a need to strengthen the teaching faculty at higher education level. “The teaching faculty in colleges has to be strong and courageous. We need to support them in sync with the goal and missions of NEP 2020.”
Speaking about the implementation of NEP 2020, LG Sinha also said that the schools, colleges and universities have done tremendous work so far in implementing it.
“The journey is still long and we have to make sure that we keep on working and implementing the holistic transformation of NEP 2020”, he said.
The Lieutenant Governor applauded the efforts of all the stakeholders for speedy implementation of National Education Policy. “Universities and Colleges in Jammu Kashmir are building an ecosystem that will be a catalyst for innovation and ground breaking research,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor observed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu Kashmir is building the movement around the vision of reforming and strengthening the higher education landscape for an uncertain world. “The Artificial Intelligence Age and traditional Indian ideals will make developed India’s dream come true,” he added.
“Amalgamation of technological advancement and Indian ethos in higher educational institutions will address the future challenges and spur strong economic growth,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He also mentioned that the National Education Policy aims to reduce inequality and expand opportunity in the higher educational institutions with the focus on a future-focused approach to equip youth with the capability of critical thinking and lifelong learning.
