The petition also says that the Governor of Jammu Kashmir may also be directed to dissolve the assembly of the state, which has failed to discharge its duties and functions which are evident from the present situation.

Meanwhile, the state government may be directed to lift the ban on the movement of the Yatra to the holy shrine of Shri Amarnath cave in the valley. The Supreme Court directed the state government and the Centre to ensure safety and security of all citizens of residing in J&K at all costs.

On Thursday, in the wake of the prevailing situation in violence-hit Kashmir, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav called on Governor Vohra and discussed recent developments in the Valley, a day after he met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

The Valley has erupted into violent protests after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
