Kulgam, Dec 13: Two persons were killed when a trailer truck ran over them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, officials said.
The accident occurred at Pambay Nihama when the speeding truck, en route to Kulgam, struck the two victims on the road. Both individuals were critically injured and rushed to a nearby health facility, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Rather (34) and Mukhtar Ahmad Itoo (28), both residents of Gopalpora, Kulgam.
According to officials, the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police have launched a manhunt to track down the driver and have initiated legal proceedings in connection with the accident.
