Jammu Tawi: The Crime Branch (CB) has filed three separate charge-sheets against eight accused individuals for duping victims of Rs 1.55 crore by falsely promising to sell land in Jammu that had already been sold to other parties. The charges relate to criminal conspiracy, cheating, and fraud.

The charges stemmed from written complaints filed by three individuals—Tarsem Singh Chib, a retired army havaldar from Preet Nagar; Pankaj Sharma, an active army serviceman from Marh; and Sanjay Choudhary, a resident of Shakti Nagar. The complainants alleged that they were misled by the accused, who promised them land at various locations in Jammu but sold the same plots to other buyers.

The Crime Branch, after conducting thorough investigations, gathered both documentary and oral evidence, alongside expert opinions from the Forensic Science Laboratory. The investigation also applied scientific methods to substantiate the fraud committed by the accused. The evidence pointed to significant wrongful gains made by the accused at the expense of the victims, who suffered a substantial financial loss.

The charge-sheets, professionally prepared and submitted to the court, cover three cases:

    Case FIR No. 40/19 under sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B RPC against three accused.

Case FIR No. 45/2024 under sections 420 and 120-B IPC against two accused.

Case FIR No. 58/2022 under sections 420 and 120-B RPC against three accused.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime, Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that the charge-sheets have been produced in the court for judicial determination, marking a significant step toward justice for the victims.
