    Army soldier dies in mine blast in Poonch

    Jammu Tawi, Dec 9: An army soldier was killed in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mandi area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.

    According to officials, the soldier, identified as Havildar Subaish (39), was critically injured when he accidentally stepped on a mine during a routine patrol along the LoC. The blast occurred in the Thanedar Tekri area, and despite immediate evacuation to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

    The White Knight Corps took to social media, expressing their condolences: “#GOC #WhiteknightCorps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to the #braveheart Havaldar V Subbaiah Varikunta of 25 RR, who made the supreme sacrifice during an area domination patrol in the general area of #ThanedarTekri, #Poonch, on 09 Dec 2024, following a mine blast. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand steadfastly with them in this hour of grief.”

    The police have registered a case and an investigation has been initiated into the incident.
