NCW Demands Strict Action From EC Against Congress Leaders’ Derogatory Remarks Against Kangana

Date:

New Delhi, Mar 26: The Commission for Women has taken swift action against derogatory remarks made against actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut. NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to the Election Commission of seeking immediate and strict penalties for Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and H.S. Ahir.

According to sources, Ms. Shrinate had posted offensive comments about Kangana Ranaut, who is the BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, on her Instagram handle. The post has since been removed. State joint co-ordinator of Kisan Congress, H.S. Ahir also passed demeaning remarks against Kangana.

The NCW condemned the disrespectful behavior, terming it against women's dignity. “Such conduct will not be tolerated. Let's uphold respect for all women,” the commission said in a strong worded statement.

Kangana hit back at Shrinate reminding her of the diverse roles she has portrayed over 20 years. “Every woman deserves respect, regardless of profession,” she tweeted.

Shrinate clarified someone else had access to her social media accounts and made the inappropriate post, which she promptly deleted upon learning. She maintained her respect for all women.

With elections underway, NCW's timely intervention sends out a clear message – personal attacks on candidates, especially women, will not be overlooked. Strict penalties may deter future violations and uphold democratic values of free and fair polls.
