PDP's focus on Anantnag LS seat, NC presses its machinery in Srinagar
Jammu, March 16 (KIP):-As far as the PDP is concerned it has pressed
its entire party machinery for wooing the voters in Anantnag Lok Sabha
constituency where the Party has fielded Tasadduq Mufti, son of
veteran political leader and former Chief Minister,Late Mufti Sayeed.
Despite the fact that the voters in the constituency have been
supporting the Muftis, first Mufti Sayeed and later Mehbooba Mufti, but
its alliance with the BJP may prove costly for the PDP. That is the
reason the PDP has pressed its entire party machinery to ensure victory for Mehbooba's brother who is the PDP candidate.
In fact the PDP has already started its campaign in
Anantnag-Pulwama LS constituency by organizing party workers' meet at
district headquarters. Coordinator of PDP for south Kashmir and Chief
Minister Mehbooba Mufti's cousin, Mufti Sajad, held the workers meet
at Khannabal housing colony the other day..
While addressing the workers, he stressed them to lead a door to door
campaign to ensure victory for the party.” We have to work hard and
reach to the people to ensure victory of PDP candidate for the
Anantnag-Pulwama Lok Sabha seat,” Sajad said.
The Anantnag-Pulwama seat will go to polls on April 12. The seat had
fallen vacant after Mehbooba Mufti took over as Chief Minister of the
State and resigned from the parliamentary seat.
Mehbooba's brother Tasadduq Mufti is PDP candidate for the seat.
Sajad said opposition was unnerved and therefore resorted to a
pre-poll alliance.
“With the candidature of Mufti Tasadduq, the opposition is feeling
restless. Our victory is certain as we have enough support in entire
south Kashmir,” he said.
National Conference and Congress have forged pre-poll alliance for
Anantnag and Srinagar Lok Sabha seats.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir,
will be locking horns with Tasadduq. Under the alliance Srinagar seat
has been allotted to the NC and the Anantnag seat to the Congress. While Farooq Abdullah will contest the Srinagar seat on the NC ticket G.A.Mir PCC Chief is the Congress candidate from
Anantnag. The NC is sure to win the Srinagar seat while the Congress is
not sure about Mir's success in Anantnag constituency.
Reports said while the Congress has focused its attention on
Anantnag seat the NC has concentrated on Srinagar seat. And if Mir win
the Anantnag seat he may be replaced by Tariq Hameed Karra as PCC
Chief. This way the Congress has won his support for the Srinagar LS
seat where its alliance partner Farooq Abdullah has been fielded by
the NC.(KIP)
