Flour mill flouting norms runs unnoticed in Sunderbani

    Date:

Ajay Sharma | Sunderbani, June 11: A flour mill is being run illegally and rogue without an NOC from authorities giving two hoots to the law and rules here in Sunderbani area of Division which is not only illegal but is a hazard and threat to ones consuming the products of the said mill. The flour mill allegedly is operating in complete violation of the operating procedure and without obtaining a no objection certificate, we have learned. It has also been informed by the sources that this mill is owned by naib sarpanch of that area.

We have learned that the said mill has defied the direct order of DC Rajouri by which no mill could be constructed or established within stipulated distance of 200 m from any govt. Buildings.  Sources said, “the Naib Sarpach somehow managed to get NOC earlier from the Headmaster of the govt. School and the hospital authority, which was later on canceled, but despite having no relevant documents, this mill continues to run illegally despite being only 70m away from a govt. School and govt. Hospital.”

Sources maintained that although the license of the mill has been obtained by fraud based on alleged fake documents, the mill still lacks no objection certificate from the pollution control committee.

When this reporter contacted officials of the pollution control committee, he was told by the concerned official that no NOC could be granted for the violation of  the set guidelines.

Meanwhile, it has been alleged that Tehsildar and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani are lenient towards the owner of the mill leading to flouting of the norms.

“Even court had directed the administration to take notice of the agitating locals in during establishment of a flour mill, but administration disobeyed the orders,” said sources, adding that a local patwari has already submitted his report, which is against the said mill.

Locals of the area have requested the intervention of Lieutenant Governor and concerned administration to bring the defaulter to book.
