Work will start once we receive funds: CMO Khan

Budgam, Nov 17 (KNO): Residents of Gandipora in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against the health department for not paying interest in construction of the PHC center for which work was started in 2011.
Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that people living in the area have to travel more than seven kilometers to visit another hospital as their nearby PHC center has no facilities available.
“All they say is that the Covid- 19 has not gone yet. Because of their negligence, whenever we get sick, we have to go far to get treatment and that means inviting illness to our home,” said a resident, Tahir Hussain.
“If there is any emergency, what will we do at that time. They do not understand our problems,” locals said.
“The current PHC is running in a small building where all kinds of facilities are not available for the patients,” they said. “We have appealed to higher authorities to take immediate action on this matter and start work so that people will not suffer more.”
Dr Tajamul Khan, chief medical officer Budgam, said that once they receive the funds, the work on PHC will start.
“The project is under the funds of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and work will start once the funds will be released on the project,” Khan said.
