Hiranagar: Despite restrictions on the marriage functions and political programmes in the PWD rest house in Hiranagar, the doors of the rest house always remain open for political functions of Bhartiya Janta Party.
Recently, a program was organized by the BJP Hiranagar Mandal at the rest house on Wednesday in which Mandal President Rajendra Bakshi and other workers were present.
As soon as the pictures of the event went viral on social media, the opposition parties started questioning the political meeting at the official rest house. Youth Congress leader Gagandeep said that if no political function can be allowed in the guest house then who is allowing BJP workers to organize programmes in the guest house. He said that it is clear that the department is also bowing before the ruling party.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch Vinay Sharma said that the sign board has been installed by the PWD in front of the guest house clearly indicates that no marriage functions and political programmes are allowed in the said rest house but despite the restriction, how BJP workers manage to hold functions in the guest house.
When contacted Sunil Bogoi, AEE of the department, he said that no political program is allowed in the rest house, the incident is not in his knowledge and if any program has been done by the BJP here, then it is clearly a violation of the rules.
