BJP leader undergoes surgery, 7-month old baby shifted to GMC

Hours after a two-year-old child was killed and six of a family were injured in a grenade attack, the seriously injured BJP leader underwent a major surgery while his seven-month-old daughter was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
Jammu and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condemned the attack terming it a coward act.
Some unidentified men allegedly lobbed a grenade in the house of BJP Mandal President, Rajouri, Jasbir Singh late evening on Thursday in which six of a family sustained injuries while his nephew succumbed.
“The BJP leader had lost his two year old nephew in a grenade attack while his seven month old daughter has been referred to the GMC for advance treatment and he himself underwent a major surgery,” police sources here said on Friday.
They said that other family members are also receiving treatment in the district hospital, Rajouri.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, “strongly condemn the cowardly attack in the house of a political leader in Rajouri in which a 2-year old child was killed &others were injured”.
“My deepest condolences to family & prayers for early recovery of injured.Perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice soon,” said Sinha.
The blast occurred late last evening near Khandlu Bridge, a few kilometres short of Rajouri.
General Secretary (Organisation) BJP J&K, Ashok Koul, has condemned the attack.

“Condemning the terrorist attack on our Mandal President Rajouri Urban Jasbir Singh's residence, in which 7-8 family members were seriously injured. This is a cowardly act that will never be accepted,” Koul tweeted.

Various political and social outfits on Friday staged anti-Pakistan protests a day after one minor was killed and six members of a family injured in a grenade attack in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Many political parties like BJP, Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Hindu Manch besides several social organizations, raised anti-Pakistan slogans and demonstrated in different parts of Jammu region.

The protestors demanded action against those behind the attack and a lesson to be taught to Pakistan for its evil designs to disrupt peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

At some places, protestors also burnt the flags of Pakistan and condemned the attack in the house of the BJP leader.

CPI (M) senior leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami condemned the attack on BJP leader's house in Rajouri in which a minor was killed and seven others injured.

Tarigami expressed grief over the loss of life in the incident and also prayed for patience to the bereaved family. He said that “such incidents cannot serve anyone's cause.”
