Jammu Tawi, Nov. 08:
The 553rd Parkash Purab (Birth Anniversary) of Guru Nanak Sahib was celebrated today
by Sikh community and other followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great devotion and
enthusiasm. While the events of Gurupurab were celebrated in
gurudwaras in all towns and districts, the main function was
organised at Gurdwara Sahib, Chand Kour, Chand Naga. A large number of devotees
from different communities participated.
On this occasion Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Ji Dadehar, Sikh Preacher of Gurmat Gian
Missionary College, Ludhiana threw light on the life and message of Guru Nanak Sahib
and Guru Nanak Sahib's message of peace and love for entire humanity and stressed for
brotherhood and equality of the entire world. He said that Guru Nanak Sahib's stand
against oppression and respect for women are other revolutionary messages for the
entire humanity.
Bhai Vikramjeet Singh Ji, Preacher, Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Ludhiana also
threw light on the teachings and life history of Guru Nanak Sahib. Similarly Bhai Anokh
Singh Ji, Hazoori Ragi, Gurdwara Baba Budda Sahib Ji, Sri Amritsar, Bhai Jugraj Singh Ji,
Hazoori Ragi, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib along with local Raagi Jathas
of DGPC Jammu recited Shabad Kirtan of Gurbani.
Different stalls of various preaching organisations and health departments were also
installed at the venue and Guru ka Langer. Stage was conducted by S. Surjeet Singh,
General Secretary, DGPC Jammu and S. Ranjit Singh, President – DGPC also addressed
the gathering and thanked the administration and entire sangat for cooperation and
participation.
Balvinder Singh Vice President while addressing said that this time DGPC has decided
not to present a memorandum to the Govt because the number of such memorandum
submitted earlier to the Administration on such occasions remained neglected and if the
Administration is sincere in solving the problems of Sikh Community they should
address those submitted demands.
The officials of Divisional and District administration and noted political persons also
paid their obeisance on this occasion. Entire DGPC Office bearers and members
including Master Ranvir Singh Jt Secretary, Jagpal Singh Cashier, Harjeet Singh &
Gurmeet Singh, Incharge Dharam Parchar Committee DGPC Jammu, Balvinder Singh,
Tejinder Singh, Avtar Singh & Karan Singh Bali were also present.
