Land identified for 500 bedded Hospitals
Jammu Tawi, April 29: “In Jammu and Kashmir we have 3000 beds which have oxygen supply and with each passing day the number of such beds is increasing,” FC Health Atal Duloo said.
He further added that with the completion of new oxygen plants at district hospitals, J&K will get two thousand more beds with oxygen supply.
Duloo said that the all 36 oxygen plants that were approved recently for Jammu and Kashmir will get completed in next few days.
Pertinently J&K is witnessing steep surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths from the last one fortnight mainly.
To break the chain, the J & K government has announced an 84 hour long lockdown in 11 districts of Union Territory starting from 7 pm today.
The present oxygen generation capacity in different hospitals of Kashmir division is 6500 litres per minute which is now being increased as new oxygen plants are being installed in every district hospital.
He said: “We have approached DRDO to build two hospitals with capacity of 500 beds each so that it can increase our oxygen supported bed capacity besides ICU supported bed capacity which in turn will help us in treating Covid-19 patients with more-better facilities and land for the both hospitals has been already identified.”
He said that authorities have been directed to ensure hassle free movement of the people going for Covid vaccination and Covid testing, however, people must avoid going out unnecessarily.
Duloo further added that more hospitals in coming days will be designated as Covid dedicated hospitals.
Asked that non-Covid patients with critical illnesses are suffering as most of the hospitals have already closed OPDs, he said that most people are avoiding visits to hospitals because they are afraid of contracting virus. However, he said that patients requiring emergency treatment and patients with critical illnesses are being treated.
He requested people that whenever they get appointment for Covid vaccination, get it at an earliest as it can save you from getting severe infection.
He said that at present the capacity of oxygen supply in Kashmir division alone is 6500 litres per minute excluding manifold and oxygen cylinders.
