10 arrested for rioting, hooliganism in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 26:  and Police in Srinagar on Thursday claimed to have arrested 10 accused persons, who were allegedly involved in yesterday's hooliganism, rioting, anti- sloganeering and stone-pelting outside Yasin Malik's house in the Maisuma area of Srinagar.

Regarding the incident, a case under FIR number 10/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Maisuma and investigation was initiated, said a police spokesman in a statement.

“Accordingly, midnight raids were conducted at many places that led to the arrest of 10 accused persons including the key accused involved in the commission of crime. However, the other accused persons involved in the commission of crime are being identified and will be booked soon under relevant law,” the statement said.

“It is strongly reiterated that no attempt of creating law & order situation in the valley will be tolerated and all mischievous attempts of provoking law & order situation by vested interests will be treated with full force of law. People especially youth are once again appealed not to indulge in any such activities which have potential of destroying their career and troubling their families,” police said.
