An Open Letter to DGP J&K

Date:

We at Public Civil Vigilance Cell, J&K (CVC) being the law abiding citizens are highly critical of the ham-handed manner in which Amarnath pilgrims were accorded 5-Star treatment by J&K Police under your dynamic leadership. The channels and analytical security related matters experts have raised many uncomfortable questions regarding the manner in which the latest attack by militants was handled. Your organization cannot pat itself on the back the manner in which the whole thing culminated.

We understand the villainous purpose of the anti-nationals of all hues who have done incalculable harm to the concept of Kashmiriyat that in the present scenario is beyond our comprehension. In vale more stress is laid upon Kashmiriyat and Indianness in many cases vanishes into the thin air. Why we don't boast to be Indians first and then Kashmiri, Dogra, Poonchi, Mirpuri etc.

The spirit behind writing this open with a sufficient application of mind for public consumption is to impinge upon your good self to ensure that those in the top level security related apparatus and responsible for one of the biggest lapses are identified without any delay, accountability fixed and even marching orders in certain cases.

There is no fun to whitewash the things as simmering public anger has volcanic dimensions. All of us should be scared of the anger of the common man who is the master of your and our destiny. Let the down and out be not underestimated and even those occupying highest constitutional positions can be hauled up before the appropriate judicial forums for ‘jawaabdehi'.

We had pinned high hopes ever since you occupied the hot seat which we know is full of thorns. It is also a fact that uneasy lays the head that wears the crown.

Since we believe in writing less and introspecting more it is expected that under your leadership the laggard and delinquent members of the belt force who have wounded the psyche of intentionally or unintentionally are made to lick the dust. The message from our side is brief but loaded.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Prof. S. K. Bhalla

Mohit Sawhney

Prof. M. R. Khan.               {Civil Vigilance Cell J&K (CVC)}
