Govt. hiding names of state land encroachers: BJP MLC

Jammu Tawi, Jan 11: Upper House on Wednesday witnessed ruckus after government didn't provide the list of the persons who have done encroachment of the Kahcharai land in Jammu and Kashmir.

The question was submitted by the BJP MLC Surinder Ambardar. In his question, the BJP's upper house member had asked the government to provide him the district wise details of the Kahcharai land in Jammu and Kashmir that has been encroached. He had further submitted that he may be informed about the details of the persons who have encroached upon the land along with the details of action taken against these encroachers.

The BJP MLC after the receiving the reply termed it ‘half truth', accusing the government of hiding the details of the encroachers. Ambardar told that while the Revenue Department, from which the answer was sought, has provided the details of district wise land encroached in the state it hasn't given the details of the persons involved in the encroachments. “The government hasn't come clear on the second part of my question. It has stated in its reply that it is compiling the list as if the encroachments were witnessed just months ago only. People have been encroaching the government land since decades. The government is hiding the truth from people,” Ambardar told.

Later, the opposition too joined the BJP MLC and sought answers from the government.

Ambardar said that he will take up the issue with the chairman LC and will seek details from the government before the session is concluded in February.
