150 Kashimiri officials set to face sedition charge

Srinagar, Sept 25: The violence in the valley may have reduced but it has not ended. According to sources in the government, state actors such as government employees that include police department personnel have actively fanned violence in the valley alongside promoting the imposition of Bandh based on the separatist calendars. Reliable inputs have confirmed the preparation of a list of atleast 150 such government employees who have acted against the state while lending support to the cause of separatist leaders, something that amounts to sedition.

According to the sources, a report has been prepared by the security agencies on the directions of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. This report consists of a list of individuals belonging to, Sector, Public Health Engineering Department, Fisheries, Forest Dept, Revenue department, State Motor Garages, Srinagar Municipality Corporation and department.

Topping in terms of numbers are 40 individuals from the department. Among the list are also seven gazetted officers five of whom are – An engineer from Public Health Engineering Department, An accounts officer in Finance Department, An assistant registrar from University, a college lecturer, A Block development officer and a deputy Chief Education officer.

According to a report, police personnel have also been identified for participating regularly in stone-pelting incidents. Nisar Dar, Riyaz Ganai, Riaz Ahmed, Firdous Bhat, Aijaz Zargar, Mushtaq and a retired policeman Abdul Rehman Wani is also a part of the list. While Wani is from Kupwara, others belong to Budgam.

Most of the govt employees in th 150 strong list are from Anantnag District. Till now only five officials from Srinagar have been identified, while 20 are from Ganderbal, 21 from Kupwara, and 26 belong to Pulwama.
