Born on 29th August 1945 in Kalith village, Akhnoor, to Lala Nathu Ram Gupta and Vidya Devi, Sh. Yash Paul Gupta has emerged as one of the most respected figures in the business, social, and community welfare sectors of Jammu. A dynamic personality, philanthropist, and trade leader, he has devoted his life to serving society selflessly while strengthening the business community and uplifting the Mahajan Biradri.
A Journey of Service and Leadership
Yash Paul Gupta Ji has always believed in the philosophy that “Service to humanity is service to God.” Deeply compassionate, he has dedicated his life to helping the poor, widows, and underprivileged families. His tireless efforts to support people in need have made him a guiding light for society.
Over the decades, he has held several prestigious leadership positions in business associations and social organizations:
- President, All India Retailers Federation(2005–2014)
- President, Hari Market Traders Association(1975–1980)
- President, Dry Fruit Association Jammu(1979–1982)
- President, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha(1998–2003, two terms)
- Acting President, Akhil Bhartiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha(2016)
- Founder President, ACTF(2005–2015)
- President, Federation of Retailers Association(1988–2022)
- President, Advisory Committee, Akhil Bhartiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha, New Delhi
- Chief Patron, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha
In addition, he served as General Secretary of the Kanak Mandi Traders Association for five years and also published the newspaper Bahu Samachar, contributing to social awareness. Remarkably, he has achieved all this without ever contesting an election, earning leadership roles purely on the basis of trust, respect, and hard work.
An Accomplished Business Leader
Mr. Gupta is not only a prominent businessman but also a champion of the trade and retail sector in Jammu and beyond. As President of the Federation of Retailers Association and Convener of the Price Review Committee constituted by the government, he has consistently advocated for supplying pure, high-quality goods at reasonable prices.
Serving as a bridge between retailers and consumers, he has worked tirelessly to promote ethical trade practices and strengthen trust within the business community. His achievements are the result of dedication, honesty, and perseverance rather than inheritance or chance.
Contributions to the Mahajan Biradri and Society
Yash Paul Gupta Ji’s role in Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha has been particularly remarkable. As President in 1998, he spearheaded numerous initiatives, including:
- The construction of a new officeat Mahajan Bhawan, Shalamar.
- Undertaking an extensive program of repairs and modernizationof the Sabha complex.
- Reorganizing the Marriage Bureau, providing matchmaking support for families.
- Reviving and expanding the Women’s Work Centre, which evolved into the Hans Raj Mahajan Women & Child Welfare Society, soon to be registered and recognized by the Department of Technical Education.
Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Gupta also dedicates time to counseling couples in distress, often helping to reunite families on the verge of separation.
Philanthropy and Community Welfare
Yash Paul Gupta Ji is known for his generous contributions to charitable causes and welfare organizations. Over the years, he has donated extensively to educational initiatives, social services, and community development projects.
One of his notable contributions is the installation of the magnificent statue of Sher-E-Duggar Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Ji at Sher-E-Duggar Lala Hans Raj Park, along with the creation of a beautiful fountain that enhances the park’s charm.
His involvement extends beyond business and Mahajan Sabha activities. He has played an active role in the Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti and also serves as Chairman of the Durga Sales Group.
A Man of Values and Optimism
Married to Smt. Santosh Gupta since 1972, he is blessed with a son, Ashu Gupta, and two well-settled daughters. A deeply spiritual and optimistic person, Mr. Gupta places his faith in God Almighty and lives by the values of kindness, honesty, and perseverance.
Despite his age, he remains energetic and youthful, maintaining an active routine filled with business engagements, community service, reading, and long walks. His simplicity, humility, and determination have earned him admiration from all walks of life.
