UPSC Shortlists 1,046 Candidates For Indian Forest Service Mains 2026

NEW DELHI, June 16: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced that 1,046 candidates have been shortlisted for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2026.

The selection has been made on the basis of the screening test conducted through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, held on May 24. The number of shortlisted candidates stands against 80 vacancies notified for the Indian Forest Service Examination this year.

The Commission said that last year 2,116 candidates were shortlisted against 150 vacancies.

Qualified candidates will be required to update or confirm their details through the UPSC online portal and submit the prescribed application fee of Rs 200 for admission to the Mains examination, except for exempted categories such as female, PwBD, and SC/ST candidates.

Candidates will also need to provide information including scribe details, assistive devices, large-font question paper requirements, and cadre preference during the online window, the Commission said.

UPSC added that the result of one candidate (roll number 6300119) has been withheld due to an ongoing court case.

The Commission further said that failure to complete the application submission process will result in candidates being ineligible to appear in the examination, even if they have been shortlisted. Even candidates with no updates to provide must log in and confirm their details to generate the e-admit card.

The marks, cut-off scores, and answer keys for the screening test will be uploaded on the UPSC website after the final result is declared. Candidates can seek clarifications from the UPSC call centre between 9 am and 8 pm. (Agencies)
