    Underestimating Enemy Risky!

It is for sure that the helmsmen in the past have made substantial progress in eliminating the terrorism from parts of Jammu and Kashmir but the recent spurt in the terror incidents especially in Jammu region indicated that the concerned stakeholders have underestimated the might of the enemies of the nation. Even the places which were long back declared as terror-free have witnessed the vicious cycle of violence once again with insurgents challenging the security forces in almost all the parts of Jammu region through attacks which even led to deaths of civilians as well as security forces personnel.

Considering the present critical situation now, all eyes are on the people sitting at helm as LG Manoj Sinha has assured that the ‘Kashmir model’ of countering the terrorism shall be emulated in Jammu region to end this scourge sooner than later.

It is good that things are being revamped to counter this relatively new challenge in the region but what is intriguing is the fact that why the helmsmen have envisaged different models to crush terrorism when the enemy is the same and the challenges also replicate what the authorities are confronting in the Valley.

The LG’s statement is hinting at a surprising fact that until now the strategy being used in Jammu region to counter the terrorism was different or one can say a bit weaker as compared to the one being implemented in the Valley, which raises many questions because principally there should be no difference or complacency in tackling terror whether it is Kashmir, Jammu or for that matter any other place, and if the government has got a tested model of successfully crushing the terrorism then why it is waiting to apply the same despite the area witnessing death and destruction at the hands of terrorists, which are no different than those who used to disrupt peace in the Valley.

It is good that after sensing trouble, the army has deployed 3500-4000 soldiers and nearly 500 special para commandos in the Jammu region to hunt down the terrorists in the jungles of different districts where they are supposed to be hiding.  The problem has lately turned out to be gigantic and therefore the people at helm should not waste even a jiffy in planning and implementing the strongest possible counter measures to eliminate the terrorism from the soil of J&K as lingering things could prove deleterious in many ways, which should not be the case.
