Date:

Tawi, Jan 29

The security forces in Jammu and (J&K) foiled an infiltration bid after terrorists tried to cross the border near Line of Control (LoC) in Gohala area, Uri in Baramulla district. Noticing the movement, security forces opened fire at militants forcing them to rush back, therefore, foiling the infiltration bid. Meanwhile, heavy firing from both the sides was underway. It appears that firing from the Pakistani side was being done in order to provide cover to the militants.

In a militant infiltration attempt from across the border which was failed by Indian security forces, the Indian Army started firing near the Line of Control (LoC) after terrorists movement was observed near LoC near Gohalan in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Noticing some activity, security forces took prompt action and opened fire at the militants following which they fled back. The firing was also observed from Pakistani side which perhaps was an attempt to provide some cover to the militants to cross the international border.
According to reports, a group of militants who were trying to infiltrate from across the LoC in Guwalan , in Uri, Baramulla distrcit, the alertness of the troops on the L0C has foiled the infiltration group. Meanwhile, as per sources, it was a group of heavily armed militants. After the army followed, a group of heavily armed militants, the army opened fire forcing the militants to flew back. Meanwhile, exchange of gunfire and mortar from the both the side is still underway as it might be possible that the Pakistani side would have been trying to provide some cover to the terrorists. However, so far, no casualty has been reported till now but exchange of heavy gunfire is still on.
Previously in 2017, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had said that the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) could be repeated, if necessary, seeking to send a stern message to Pakistan. “Terrorists will keep coming because the (terror) camps are operational there (across the LoC). Even we are ready. We will keep receiving them (infiltrators) to dispatch them two-and-a-half feet below the ground.”
