Srinagar: In a deadly attack in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists killed a former sarpanch and injured two tourists yesterday. According to Police sources, the former sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad, who was associated with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was shot dead by terrorists in the Shopian district of south Kashmir. Mr. Ahmad succumbed to his injuries in a nearby hospital.
In a separate incident later in the evening, terrorists opened fire upon a couple from Rajasthan who were visiting Yannar village in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir. The police stated that both individuals from Rajasthan sustained injuries in the attack and were rushed to a medical facility for treatment. The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed concerns over the targeted killing.
