Although it is known to one and all that driving with cell phones in hands is a dangerous act but despite that almost all the commuters are indulging in this action, inviting trouble on roads. The roads in J&K are full of twists and turns thus making it difficult to handle situations for those maneuvering their vehicles with active phone calls or busy watching reels.
It is a hard fact that use of cell phones diverts the minds and senses of people steering the vehicles and therefore people should think hundred times before using mobile phones while driving as a second without care can cause road mishaps involving fatalities.
With every individual having at least one mobile phone in possession the situation on roads has turned grim as no one knows who is on a call during the rush hour acting as a source of accident, and in worst case deaths and destruction.
What is in vogue these days is the growing habit of young people to answer each and every call, and respond to text messages as and when received without pondering about the dangerous consequences which could arise out of this wrong tendency prevalent these days. Expecting much from Traffic Police in the matter is not the right approach because a traffic police cop cannot see inside vehicles and gauging that a person is on phone call with speakers on is nearly impossible to judge therefore it is the responsibility of the person sitting at the steering to show responsible behaviour and not indulge in active calls or messaging when driving a vehicle because with this immaturity people put their lives and that of fellow commuters into dangerous situation.
One would have seen people on scooties using cell phones either by clamping them within shoulder and head or holding the same with hands. Both the ways are dangerous and can invite trouble therefore it is the need to stop this way of taking calls while driving scooties and other two wheelers as nothing is more important than a human life.
To ensure the well-being of all road users, it is crucial for individuals to recognize the hazards associated with using cell phones while behind the wheel and adopt a conscientious approach to eliminate this perilous behaviour.
