    Jammu Tawi, Dec 05: The Voters Corner today organized usual VOTERS MEET of Lawyers in the Lawns of High Court Complex that witnessed participation of over one thousand lawyers who listened to all the candidates contesting for five posts for the office of J&K High Court Bar Association.

    All the contesting candidates presented their respective manifestos before the voters responding to various issues confronting the lawyers in general and those practicing in Jammu in particular.

    The proceedings of the Voters Meet were conducted by Convener of the VOTERS CORNER, H.C. Jalmeria Advocate. Before the views of the candidates, the issues raised on behalf of the voters by Mr Jalmeria were: inordinate delays in holding of J&K Bar Council elections; deficient infrastructure of courts including for judges, lawyers and litigants; Non-construction of multi-facility complex in Janipura Court area for housing registration, CAT, AFT, Consumers Courts and allied postal, telephone, health services; Bar’s resolution opposing shifting of High Court from its present location.

    Responding emphatically to these issues and presenting their respective manifestos, the candidates covered many issues concerning the lawyers’ fraternity and infrastructure in the courts. In one voice, the candidates emphasized for strengthening the institution of Bar and making it a powerful body of the lawyers. Strong Bar to strengthens the justice delivery system, it was stressed by speakers. Library, Canteen, Specific Facilities for lady Bar members, Shortage of lawyers chambers were prominent issues raised in the meet.

    The contesting candidates who participated were: for the post of president: Abhinav Sharma, Bhavishya Sudan, Nirmal Kotwal, Pawan Kunadal & Rohit Sharma; for the post of vice president: Ashwani Kumar Banotra, Baldev Singh, Daljeet Singh Manhas & Deepika Mahajan; for the post of general secretary: Ahtsham Hussain Bhat, Arjun Singh Pathania, Himanshu Sharma & Pardeep Majotra; for the post of joint secretary: Anshu Mahajan & Rahul Sharma; for the post of treasurer: Atul Sharma, Jameel Choudhary & Rahul Aggarwal.

    AV Gupta, Ranjeet Singh Jamwal, Raghu Mehta, BR Chandan, BS Jamwal, Vinod Abrol, Gourab Bhagat, Mohd Zulkarnain, Meharban Singh, Ajay Bakshi, Aleem Beig, Arvind Singh, played their active role as members of organizing committee in the conduct of the voters meet.
