actress opens up about her experience shooting challenging sequence for Netflix series

Richa Chadha, renowned Bollywood actress known for her versatile roles, recently opened up about the difficulties she faced while shooting an intricate sequence for the much awaited Netflix series ‘Heeramandi'. In an interview with a leading portal, Richa recalled how director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was losing patience with her take after take during the filming of an emotionally draining song.

Bhansali, a perfectionist known in the industry for extracting extraordinary performances, was pushing Richa to achieve the perfect amalgamation of complex emotions in a single long take shot. She was expected to portray drunkenness, humiliation and intricate classical dance perfectly together for the portrayal of her character. After giving close to 100 tries over multiple days, Richa mentioned feeling completely drained but also resolved to accomplish the demanding scene.

The actress praised Bhansali's expertise as a classical dancer in understanding the nuances but also admitted the high standards he expects on set. Richa revealed shuttling betweenretakes late into the night while battling physical exertion in a heavy costume. Witnessing her visible distress, even the director acknowledged her emotional commitment to the scene. Richa cited this experience as a humbling learning that strengthened her resolve to execute scenes of complexity and layers.

‘Heeramandi', set in pre-independent Lahore, promises rich performances from its talented ensemble cast as they bring to life the stories of courtesans. Audiences are eagerly awaiting this epic drama streaming on Netflix later this year. Richa's heartfelt revelations have piqued further interest around her role in the highly ambitious series.
