Janhvi Kapoor shares views on observing debate between Ambedkar and Gandhi on caste issue

Janhvi Kapoor shares her views on topics of history and caste system

In a recent interview to promote her upcoming sports drama film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor opened up about her interests in history and shared which historical event she would like to observe first hand. When asked which era of history she would like to visit if given a chance, Janhvi stated that it would be fascinating to watch a debate between B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi on the topic of caste system in India.

Both these leaders heavily influenced the society and played a big role in shaping the nation according to Janhvi. She commented that observing their views directly from a third person perspective rather than just reading about it would be very insightful. Ambedkar was a strong opponent of caste discrimination from the beginning while Gandhi’s stance evolved over time according to changing social dynamics. Janhvi seems intrigued to analyze their differing perspectives on such a crucial issue that continues to impact Indian society even today.

When further inquired, Janhvi acknowledged that caste was never a subject brought up within her household or school premises while growing up. Coming from a non-film background, she did not have any exposure to discussion around caste identity or discrimination in her personal life experiences.

Janhvi will soon be seen portraying a cricketer in her upcoming film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ co-starring Rajkummar Rao. To prepare for her role, she underwent extensive training in cricket skills for over 150 days and also sustained some minor injuries during the process according to BTS videos shared by her online.
