Relief Commissioner – Savior of migrants
We are living in a completely corrupt world where the system is faulty not only from the bottom level but from the top hierarchy as well. Rising corruption has eroded the very faith, credibility and trust of the public onthe government. Corruption and corrupt practices are prevalent in almost every department (be it a private/government) in one form oranother. There is complete dearth of honest officers now-a-days so the old adage of ‘Honesty is the best policy' seems to be irrelevant and outdatedin this present era of materialistic world where every human being revolves around the money. And the person who seems to be honest is never being revered and appreciated by the top administrationin the department.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Relief Commissioner's office (Migrants) was also regarded as the most corrupt office ever since its inception because of the agent system. It was seen in the past thatthe migrants generally got their work done via agents/brokers by paying hefty amounts to them in the above said office. But now, after the present Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) Sh. T.K Bhat has assumed the charge of the office, the agent system has completely been abolished and those indulging in such mal-practicesare being dealt with an iron hand. There is complete transparency and decency in the system now and thus the migrants are feeling a sigh of relief. The working and functioning of the Relief Commissioner's office has become very streamlined and organized now thanks to this honest officer as he worked wholeheartedly and tirelessly in bringing transparency to the most outdated system of the department. There was a time when one visits the above said office multiple times for seeking the redressal of their issues and grievances. The working and functioning of the Relief and Rehabilitation office was so monotonous and unorganized because of the agents, brokers and other middle men. But now everything is streamlined and properly managed as the present Relief Commissioner believes in hard work and honesty. His honest efforts and workaholic attitude is being appreciated by all the Kashimiri migrants as he is considered as a saviour for them.
Under the supervision of the present Relief Commissioner, the flats and roads in the Jagti Township for migrants have been up-graded. Other developmental works like blacktopping of roads, installment of street lights and renovating parking slots at various migrant camps in Jammu and Srinagar are also in progress. Migrant schools that come under the purview of RC office have also been renovated. All credit goes to the present Relief Commissioner. To cut a long story short we can say that such kind of honest officer really deserves kudos as he has shown greatest perseverance and highest professionalism for safeguarding the interests of allKashmiri Migrants.
