Jammu, Sept 24: Relief Commissioner (RC) Migrants and the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) is jointly
organising first of its kind rather historic sports event in various sports disciplines in the migrant schools from September 28 to
October 2, 2022.
This sporting extravaganza is being held in five disciplines of sports including Cricket, Chess, Tug of War, Yoga and Ludo
to be played at different venues.
As per the circulars issued by the Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Atul Kumar (JKAS) and District Youth
Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, the venues include Sports Stadium Jagti (Cricket and Tug of War),
GHSS Camp Roopnagar Muthi (Chess), GHSS Camp Purkhoo (Ludo) and Muthi Camp, Purkhoo Camp & Community Hall L.
No-14 Jagti (Yoga).
“Cricket for open category boys will be held from September 28 to October 1, while Tug of War, Ludo and Chess will be
held on September 28, 29 and 30 respectively and Yoga will be performed on September 30, October 1 and October 2,”
informed Atul Kumar.
He said DYSSO Jammu has framed various committees to hold the event in a befitting manner, adding the committees
include Organising Committee, Technical Committee, Registration Committee, Medical Committee, Equipment Committee and
Publicity Committee.
It is pertinent to mention here that this sporting event is a brainchild of Relief Commissioner Migrants, KK Sidha being
executed by Joint Director Sports (J), to serve a twin purpose of celebrating Navratra Festival in unique fashion and involving
migrant youth in sporting activities to not to fall prey to drugs and other allied social evils and not to derail from the mainstream.
Joint Director Youth Services and Sports (J) is the Chairman of the event, while DYSSO Jammu is the Secretary and Zonal
Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Dansal, Veena Tickoo is the Organising Secretary.
Meanwhile, reviewing the arrangements Atul Kumar has served strict instructions to the Organising Secretary,
besides Conveners and Co-Conveners with regard to holding the event in a professional manner.
