Punjab: The Punjab Police on Wednesday busted an international drug smuggling racket, arresting two persons and recovering 10 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) and 4 kg of heroin.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were in contact with a Dubai-based smuggler operating from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and were acting on his directions to traffic narcotics in Punjab and Delhi.
He said one of the accused had recently returned from Dubai, where he was allegedly trained and assigned the task of transporting consignments of heroin and ICE, and supplying them across the Majha and Doaba regions.
An FIR has been registered at Chheharta police station in Amritsar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Further investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages, identify other members of the network, and ascertain additional recoveries, police said. (Agencies)
