Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently held a series of meetings with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers in Jalandhar city ahead of the assembly by-election scheduled on July 10th. During these meetings, CM Mann announced that the state government will operate from Jalandhar for two days every week going forward.
While addressing party members at a private event, the Chief Minister informed that he has leased a home in Jalandhar, not just for the election campaign but to improve accessibility for citizens. He stated that this move will ensure people from Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts don’t need to travel over 250km to meet with the CM. Mann added that he and his family will soon begin spending two weekdays in Jalandhar, assisting residents and spearheading government work.
Sources present quoted the CM saying the new arrangement will facilitate the public and strengthen connectivity between leaders and locals. He urged workers to avoid unnecessary online debates and instead focus on achievable poll promises when campaigning for the candidate. Ministers, MLAs and other prominent party figures also attended the meeting aimed at coordinating efforts for the impending by-election.
It is learnt the AAP leadership will launch “Jam Samvad”, a local outreach program where their candidate visits 15 neighborhoods daily to discuss issues. CM Mann has reportedly requested strict adherence to election guidelines and issue-based messaging alone. The event concluded with kits being distributed to booth-level volunteers containing campaign materials.
