Srinagar, July 08:  and administration on Friday cancelled J&K police sub-inspector recruitment following allegations of irregularities and recommended a CBI probe into the selection process.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the culprits will be brought to justice soon. “JKP Sub-Inspector recruitment has been cancelled and a CBI probe has been recommended into the selection process. Culprits will be brought to justice soon,” he tweeted.

“It's a first big step towards securing the future of our youth & the government will soon decide the future course of action for fresh recruitment,” the LG said/

Last month, he had said that some people have objected to the SI recruitment list and the government has decided to constitute a committee headed by the Home Secretary to probe the allegations of mischief.

“All the recruitment process held so far has been transparent and clean. But fingers have been raised against the J&K SSB list of SI posts. We have decided to constitute a committee that will be headed by Secretary Home to probe the allegations levelled by some people,” he had said.

He had said that the committee will submit its report within the shortest possible time and if anybody is found involved in playing mischief, strict action will be taken and the entire process will be conducted afresh in a transparent manner.

Over 97,000 candidates had appeared in the exam for the posts. However, soon after the declaration of the result online, unsuccessful candidates took to the street alleging fraud in the recruitment process.
