Police Intensify Anti-Terror Ops Across Jammu; Searches in Ramban, Kathua, Rajouri

Jammu, Nov 9: In a major anti-terror crackdown, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday expanded operations across several districts of Jammu region, targeting terrorists operating from Pakistan and their local overground workers (OGWs), officials said. Massive search and cordon operations were launched simultaneously at dozens of locations in Ramban, Kathua, and Rajouri districts.

The intensified drive follows Saturday’s questioning of multiple suspects during an ongoing anti-terrorist operation in Doda. Intelligence inputs indicate that terrorists hiding in higher reaches are attempting to relocate to the plains as winter sets in.

According to a police spokesperson, security forces have strengthened the grid across the region, conducting large-scale searches in Banihal and Gool areas of Ramban under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta. The operation aims to track suspicious activities linked to relatives of Jammu and Kashmir-based terrorists operating from Pakistan, verify antecedents of suspects, and tighten security around sensitive zones.

During the coordinated operations, houses of relatives and known associates of active terrorists and OGWs were searched. Police teams, assisted by the Army, CRPF, and SOG units, thoroughly inspected premises to ensure no anti-national or unlawful activities were taking place. The drives were conducted under the watch of duty magistrates to maintain transparency and order.

Authorities stressed that the operations were carried out in an organised and people-friendly manner without causing inconvenience to civilians. Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling anti-national networks, maintaining regional peace, and ensuring the safety of citizens.

The public has been urged to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movements, with assurances that informants’ identities will remain confidential. Similar coordinated searches were also underway in Kathua and Rajouri districts, officials added. (Agencies)
