Contrary to the claims of the state and centre Governments that they have successfully demolished the terror network in the valley and contained further infiltration of terrorist, there is no relenting of terror attacks taking a heavy toll on the security forces and Kashmir Police personnel.

The opposition questions the government seeking an explanation for the “intelligence failure.” Six soldiers including the Police officers have been killed in the last 48 hours in Jammu and Kashmir while four soldiers namely Major Ketan Sharma, Rifleman Anil Kumar Jaswal, Havildar Amarjeet Kumar, Naik Ajit Kumar have been martyred in the last 24 hours.

This is seemingly failure on the part of coordinating agencies as the the attacks have been pre-warned in intelligence inputs.

Five jawans were killed in an attack on CRPF personnel in Anantnag last week. This reflects as if, the terrorists have gained an upper hand Seven civilians were seriously injured in a daring terror attack on a police station in Pulwama.

The central government have to answer why these attacks are taking place continuously.

On Monday, an Army major and a militant were killed, while another officer and two troopers were injured in an encounter in Anantnag district.

On the same day in Pulwama, nine Army personnel and two civilians were injured when militants triggered a blast through an improvised explosive device (IED) fitted to a vehicle.

Two of the jawans succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday, while the others are recuperating at a hospital. At least seven civilians were injured in a grenade attack by militants on a police station in Pulwama.

The casualties and injuries on the part of security forces and civilian population are far more than what the terrorists suffered.

In the prevailing situation, the Governor Mr. Mallik too has admitted today that conducting of smooth Amarnath Yatra is serious challenge. The Union Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the state on June 30 to review the security situation especially in the wake of Amarnath Yatra.

So, it is all the more important for the state Administration to ensure foolproof security during the Yatra and find out where the lapses have affected the gains made in the last few months over the militants.
