Peshawar, June 29 — At least 13 security personnel were killed and 24 others injured in a deadly suicide bombing on Saturday in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to security sources.
The attack occurred in the Khaddi area of North Waziristan when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle of the Bomb Disposal Unit during a curfew imposed due to ongoing military operations.
Among the injured are 14 civilians, including women and children, several of whom are in critical condition.
Security agencies launched an immediate rescue and relief operation following the blast, which is being described as one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent months.
The militant group Usud al-Harb, a sub-faction of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about the deteriorating security situation in North Waziristan, an area long plagued by militancy and conflict.(Agencies)
