On Day 6, “Maidaan” Box Office Collection Hits Rs 2 Crore Despite Slashed Ticket Prices; Cinemas Give It a Red Card

Date:

Maidaan box office collection day 6: Despite slashed ticket prices, the Ajay Devgn starrer continues to perform poorly in cinemas.

Maidaan, the biography based on the true story of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, has been playing in cinemas for almost a week now. The film's  box office performance on day six (Tuesday) remained poor, continuing its disappointing run. According to early estimates shared by Sacnilk, the Ajay Devgn-starrer earned around Rs 1.65 crore on Tuesday. The film's total nett collection till date stands at Rs 25.15 crore. Maidaan is helmed by filmmaker Amit Sharma, best known for Badhaai Ho.

Despite positive reviews, the film opened poorly on Eid as it raked in Rs 2.6 crore on its first day. However, Maidaan showed some improvement over the weekend, recording revenue of Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.4 crore on Sunday. But it failed the crucial Monday test, as its collections crashed to a mere Rs 1.5 crore. Maidaan was produced on a reported  of Rs 250 crore, and was marked by lengthy delays because of the pandemic and post-production work.
