NL Corresspondent Jammu, Feb 09: Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura and GDC Kishtwar won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Inter College (T20) Cricket Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus grounds, here today. In the first match of the day, GDC Paloura defeated GDC Chenani by a margin of 33 runs. Earlier, GDC Chenani won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, GDC Paloura set and target of 126 runs losing nine wickets. In reply, GDC Chenani bowled out for 92 runs in 17.5 overs. In other match, GDC Kishtwar trounced GDC R S Pura by a big margin of 83 runs. Batting first, Kishtwar bowled out for 146 runs in 19.2 overs which, in reply, GDC Chenani could not chase and bundled out for a partly total of 63 runs. Today’s matches officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Rahul Kumar, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Suresh Singh, Tahir Mahmood and Manoj Kumar.

, Feb 09: Beating many time champion, Vipul Saini, Bhavya Sharma today emerged as new men's champion in the 49th J&K UT Badminton Championship which concluded today under the banner of Badminton Association of J&K (BAJK)

Bhavya defeated Vipul in straight sets of 21-18, 21-17 in the title clash. The women's singles title went to Unnati Jaral, who trounced Krishika Mahajan  21-11, 21-16.  In women doubles final, Unnati and Krishika outplayed the duo of Shambhavi and Shrijus 21-14, 21-17.

The mixed doubles title secured by the pair of Bhavya and Krishika, who trounced the duo of Vipul Saini and Unnati 21-19, 21-15.

Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma was chief guest, who presented the title trophies and other individual prizes to the winners and runners-up of the five-day event. Former Minister, Chander Parkash Sharma presided.

Other dignitaries present were Dr O D Sharma, Fayaz Ahmed, Mohd Irfan Ullah Shah, Rajiv Sharma, Ashosk Singh, Satish Gupta, D V Sharma, Dr Satish Chander, Sultan Mirza, Basanti Bhat and Balbir Singh Jamwal (general secretary of the BAJK).

The competition officiated by the technical penal including Touseef Ahmed, Vikram Saini, Divum Gupta, Sukhdev Singh, Vivek Mehta, Anil Gurkha, Waseem Rather, Bharat Bhushan and Pawanjit Singh under the supervision of chief referee, Rahul Sharma.

Under-11 Girls: Paavni Gupta bt Tara Shan 21-15, 21-13.

Under-13: Gopesh Singh bt Harsh Sharma 21-14, 21-18.

Under-13 Girls: Suhani Sharma bt Gania Singh 21-15, 21-17.

Under-15 Boys: Bhavdeep Singh bt Gopesh Singh 21-19, 18-21, 21-17.

Under-15 Girls: Sbhambhavi Rajput bt Antima 21-14, 21-19.

Under-15 Girls Doubles:  Antima and Shreya bt Suhani and Gania 21-15, 21-19. Under-17 Boys: Vaibhav Mehta 21-18, 14-21, 21-16.

Under-17 Girls: Shambhavi Rajput bt Krishika Mahajan 21-16, 21-18.

Under-19 Boys: Thakur Ayush bt Vaibhav Mehta 21-16, 21-14.

Under-19 Boys Doubles: Neelkanth and Ayush bt Sant and Bhavdeep 21-12, 21-18.

Under-19 Girls: Krishika Mahajan bt Unnati Jaral 21-17, 21-19.
