Militant, soldier killed, infiltration bid foiled on LoC

Kupwara, Jul 08: A militant and an army soldier were killed as the army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara's Tangdhar on Friday, officials said.

An official told that a group of militants were tracked with the help of night vision devices and other counter-infiltration gadgets along the LoC.

“Challenging the intruders, the alert troops launched an operation and thwarted an infiltration bid by killing a militant,” he said, adding one soldier identified as Jasvir Singh of 6 JAK Rifle was also killed.

The official said arms and ammunition including one AK-47, 4 pistols, 3 AK-47 magazines, 3 Pistol magazines and 5 hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the slain militant. “Some notes of Pakistani currency were also recovered,” he said.
