Jammu, Aug 18: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has deputed four senior IAS and four IPS officers to supervise relief and rescue operations in cloudburst-hit Chashoti village of Kishtwar district. The officers will monitor the situation on a roster basis from August 19 to 26, a government order said on Sunday.
On August 19–20, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti and IGP (Operations & Services) Uttam Chand will be on duty. This will be followed on August 21–22 by Anil Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary (PWD), along with IGP (Security) Sujit Kumar.
On August 23–24, Shaleen Kabra, Additional Chief Secretary (Jal Shakti), and IGP (Traffic) M. Suleman Choudhary will oversee operations, while on August 25–26, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary (Science & Technology), and IGP (Railways) Vivek Gupta will supervise the measures.
The deputation comes as large-scale rescue and relief efforts continue in Chashoti, where a cloudburst on August 14 claimed over 60 lives and left dozens missing.
