Srinagar, Sep 25: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday congratulated the people for turning out in large numbers to exercise the record franchise during the phase 2 of the elections.
Polling was held for 26 assembly constituencies spread over six districts of Jammu and Kashmir — 11 constituencies in Jammu division and 15 constituencies in Kashmir valley and a record 56.5 percent polling was registered in the second phase of the election on Wednesday.
The Assembly election were the first after abrogation of Article 370 and held after ten years in Jammu and Kashmir“I would like to congratulate voters of Reasi, Poonch, Rajouri, Ganderbal, Budgam and Srinagar for turning out in large numbers to exercise their franchise”, Lt Governor posted on X (formerly twitter).
“I applaud the spirit of the people to strengthen the democratic values and to uphold our rich democratic traditions”, he added.
Record voter turnout is a shining example of vibrant and progressive democracy.
“I also appreciate the remarkable contribution of the election officials, JKP, security forces for smooth, free, fair and peaceful polling in 26 Assembly Constituencies in Phase-2”, the Lt Governor said.
