Jammu, Dec 25: Two wanted criminals were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on the outskirts of Jammu and shifted to a jail in Poonch district, police said on Thursday.
The accused were identified as Paramjeet Kumar alias Jungi, a resident of R S Pura, and Shubham Saini alias Mundi, from the Arnia area. Police said Paramjeet Kumar was detained under the PSA following formal detention orders issued by the District Magistrate, Jammu, and was subsequently lodged in the district jail, Poonch.
Shubham Saini, described as a habitual offender involved in multiple criminal cases over the past few months, was also booked under the PSA and shifted to the same jail.
Police officials said the preventive action was taken as both accused had repeatedly managed to secure bail from courts and continued to indulge in criminal activities. The detention under the PSA aims to prevent them from posing further threats to public order, they added. (Agencies)
