J&K: Properties of drug peddlers worth Rs 1.2 Cr attached in Anantnag

Srinagar, April 11: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police have attached properties valued at over ₹1.2 crore belonging to individuals involved in multiple narcotics cases across the district, officials said on Friday.

In one of the major actions under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, police attached a single-storey house and one kanal of land in Sallar, Anantnag. The property belongs to Bashir Ahmad Wani, accused in FIR No. 65/2018 registered at Police Station Srigufwara in connection with the recovery of a large quantity of poppy straw. The value of the seized property is estimated at over ₹70 lakh.

In a separate case (FIR No. 35/2025) registered at Police Station Bijbehara, police attached a residential house and a vehicle (JK02AV-1235) belonging to Tajdar Amin Khan of Goriwan Bijbehara. A shopping complex owned by Bilal Ahmad Itoo of Gund Nasir, Bijbehara, was also seized in this operation.

Additionally, under FIR No. 213/2024 of Police Station Bijbehara, a vehicle registered in Punjab (HR16L-3657), owned by Harjinder Singh of Kapurthala, was also attached for links to drug-related activities.

“These decisive actions reflect Anantnag Police’s firm resolve to dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers and ensure accountability by seizing properties acquired through illicit means,” a police statement said, adding that such steps serve as a strong deterrent.

Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
