Srinagar, June 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a suspect and recovered incriminating materials, including 20 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition, during a search operation in Baramulla district on Sunday.
Acting on credible intelligence, police raided the residence of Mohammad Maqbool Dar alias Javaid Dar, a resident of New Colony, Sariwarpora Pattan. The operation was conducted in connection with a 2024 case registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Sections 121 and 121-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Pattan.
During the search, police discovered posters linked to the banned organization Jammu and Kashmir National Front along with the AK-47 ammunition. All materials were seized on-site following proper legal protocols.
Police confirmed that the accused is in custody and that additional charges under Section 23 of UAPA and Section 7/25 of the Arms Act have been invoked due to the nature of the recovery. Further investigation is ongoing.
