Jio introduces ultra-secure communication app JioSafe
In an effort to leverage its expanding 5G network, Reliance Jio has launched a new encrypted calling and messaging platform called JioSafe. The app promises military-grade security for conversations through its dependence on Jio’s standalone 5G infrastructure.
As one of the first applications that requires a 5G connection, JioSafe can only be used on smartphones with access to Jio’s 5G network. This ensures the highest level of encryption is applied to all calls and messages through the utilization of 5G’s advanced security features like network slicing.
Within the secure “rooms” allowed on the app, users can engage in group video calls with up to five participants. Voice and video chats come with end-to-end encryption to prevent unauthorized access. Additional protections include verified profiles through Jio SIM authentication and screening of contacts for valid JioSafe users.
Currently available for Android and iOS, Jio is waiving subscription fees for the first year to encourage early adoption of the platform. In the future, a monthly fee of Rs. 199 will apply for ongoing use of the security-focused features.
While established encrypted options exist, JioSafe aims to set the standard for privacy through reliance on 5G-exclusive usage. Only accessible on Jio’s latest network ensures the highest barrier against threats compared to alternatives open to multiple networks. For those seeking military-grade security in their mobile conversations, JioSafe provides an ultra-secure solution exclusively on Jio’s 5G infrastructure.
