Jammu Tawi: At 45.1 degrees Celsius the Jammu city recorded its highest temperature this season, the Met department announced on Monday.

“The maximum temperature rose to 45.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which was six degrees above normal. It was the highest temperature recorded this season so far,” a Met official said.

There was possibility of rain at isolated places from Wednesday. However, this was unlikely to bring any relief as the temperatures were expected to soar further in the days ahead, the Met official added.

In view of the scorching heat witnessed in the last one week in the city, authorities have closed the schools here for summer vacations.
