Srinagar, Dec 3: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday successfully rescued a woman who was abducted in Kupwara and apprehended the accused in Rajasthan.
According to police, the incident began on November 12, 2024, when a written complaint was filed by Manzoor Ahmad Mir, a resident of Doniwari Lolab, at the Police Post Bazaar. Mir reported that while he and his wife were at SDH Hospital, his wife was abducted by Asif Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Alchizebh Kupwara. The abduction was carried out using a motorcycle, Mir stated.
Following the complaint, a case (FIR No. 267/2024) was registered at Police Station Kupwara, and an investigation was launched. During the investigation, police learned that the accused and the abducted woman had gone into hiding to evade capture.
A dedicated police team was formed to track down the accused. Their diligent efforts led to the successful rescue of the woman from the custody of the accused in Rajasthan. The accused was arrested and brought back to Kupwara for further investigation.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case, and further legal actions are being pursued.
