‘First secular election free from shadow of secessionists'
Jammu Tawi, September 12: The forthcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are historic since they would be the first since the region became secular, according to Bhartiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, who also noted that the contest is between nationalist and anti-national forces.
Speaking at a press conference, Sudhanshu stated, “People in these Assembly elections have to choose between those promising peace and development (BJP) and those promising death and destruction (NC-Cong).”
“The government here in J&K adopted the six-year term for Assembly after the 42nd amendment to the Indian Constitution, but it did not add the word secular in its constitution,” Sudhanshu remarked.
He stated that although J&K had a separate constitution at the time, there is now only one with the repeal of Article 370.
He declared, “This is the first election in J&K since it became secular, the first election held under one flag, the first election free from stone-pelting, flags of ISIS and Pakistan, and the first election without hartals.” “This is also the first election in J&K since OBCs received reservation,” he continued.
According to him, this election would also be the first time that the Assembly term will be five years.
He questioned, “Cong must tell who would be released from jails, is it Yasin Malik, Asiya Andrabi, or Shabir Shah?” and said that NC and Cong wanted to rekindle separatism and terrorism.
Rahul Gandhi was also criticized by Trivedi for meeting and conversing with those who see PoJK as belonging to Pakistan rather than India.
He said, “The Indian Parliament had passed a resolution saying that PoJK is an integral part of India and Rahul by meeting such people has insulted the Indian Parliament.” “Rahul recently met some people in the USA who do not consider PoJK as part of India but rather as part of Pakistan,” he claimed.
As the Leader of the Opposition, Sudhanshu claimed that Rahu had denigrated both the Parliament and his forefathers, who were also there when the resolution stating that PoJK is an integral part of India was approved.
Recently, Sushil Kumar Shinde, the Cong government's home minister, expressed his fear of visiting Kashmir, saying that “PM Modi has restored peace in Kashmir after abrogating Article 370 and record number of over 2 crore tourists visited Kashmir,” Sudhanshu added.
In addition, he noted that J&K is the only state with two AIIMS and other esteemed professional and technical educational institutes. After 33 years, the Muharram parade was held in Kashmir.
