New Delhi: A committee led by former home secretary Madhukar Gupta has suggested in its report to the government to use technology and increase vigil on riverine frontiers to prevent Pathankot-like terror attacks.
The committee was set up following the Pathankot terror attack to look into security gaps on the India-Pakistan border.
As per report, the committee is also learnt to have flagged gaps and vulnerability in border fencing and has suggested use of scientific methods.
The committee is also said to have given separate recommendations for four states which touch the international border with Pakistan.
At the same time it also reportedly expressed displeasure over not installing laser walls in many infiltration-prone areas.
These areas are vulnerable due to treacherous and marshy terrain.
The committee was set up three months after the terror attack on Pathankot IAF base in January to study all types of gaps in fencing and other vulnerabilities along the border.
The terrorists had entered the strategic air base at Pathankot on the intervening night of January one-two this year and mounted a brazen assault.
In the fierce encounter that had ensued, seven security personnel besides four terrorists were killed.
