5th Initial Trauma Management course was organized from 24th to 26th April at the Faculty Guest House of Government Medical College Jammu.
The course was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sunanda Raina, principal/Dean of GMC Jammu in coordination with the HoDs of Surgery, Anesthesia, Orthopedics, Obs and Gyane and Medicine for the resident doctors.
The course was conducted by the instructors of Government medical College Jammu and technical support from the ICRC. The instructors for the course included Dr. Anita Vig (Associate Professor, Anesthesia), Dr. Sanjay Sharma (Assistant Professor, Surgery), Dr. Kailash Thakur (Assistant Professor Surgery), Dr. Bias Dev (Assistant Professor Orthopedics) and Dr. Vikrant Singh (Lecturer Department of Surgical Gastroenterology).
The course consisted of lectures by the instructors which was followed by practical application of the knowledge on skill stations. The students did practical scenarios where they practiced different procedures like airway management, intubation, shock management, spine immobilization, limb mobilization. In addition table top drill and triage on mass causality incidence workshop was conducted.
The course concluded with inspection of the triage plan for emergency which was presented before prof. Tariq Azad, Head of Emergency Medicine, Prof. Dr. Sunanda Raina, Principal/Dean, GMC Jammu addressed the students and emphasized the need for emergency trauma management and applauded the ICRC for initiating the course. She also distributed certificates among 12 qualified candidates. Dr. Rohit Goal, Dr. John Mohd, Dr. Tanveer, Dr. Anitapal Singh, Dr. tanveer Ali, Dr. Priya Thapa, Dr. Monika, Dr. Shipra, Dr. vaishnor, Dr. Anuradha, Obs and Gynae, Sanjeevini, Dr. Supriya.
The course will help the trainees to formulate a systematic approach in dealing with trauma and mass causality management.
