Indore, Sep 17: In a shocking incident, a youth from Indore namely Mukim Khan, has been arrested for allegedly threatening a 21-year-old college student with an acid attack, coercing her to marry him, and pressuring her to convert religion. Police said the alleged accused was taken into custody the same night after the victim lodged a complaint, and a case has been registered against him under sections related to criminal intimidation, molestation, and forced conversion. According to the police, the victim first met Khan during a practical examination in April 2025. After the brief interaction, he reportedly obtained her mobile number and began contacting her through Instagram and phone calls. Initially, the youth expressed his desire to marry her and even suggested they run away together. When the student refused, Khan allegedly turned aggressive and began issuing threats.
The victim told investigators that Khan repeatedly pressured her to marry him and convert to Islam. When she resisted, he allegedly threatened to “slaughter her family like sheep and goats” if she declined his proposal. She further stated that Khan warned he would kill her by pouring acid on her face if she continued to reject his demands.
Over the next few months, the student said she received frequent phone calls and messages from Khan. When she stopped responding, he began confronting her in person. Matters escalated on Monday evening when the student was on her way to Kankeshwari ground to attend Garba practice sessions. At Subhash Nagar Square, Khan intercepted her on a scooter, grabbed her hand, and threatened her once again, warning that she must agree to marry him or face an acid attack.
Frightened by the repeated harassment, the student sought help from members of a Hindu organization before approaching the police station with her brother. She provided a detailed statement of the threats and harassment she had endured since April. Based on her testimony, police registered an FIR against Khan.
Additional DCP Zone 2 Amarendra Singh confirmed that the accused was taken into custody the same night. “The matter is being investigated, and strict action will be taken as per law,” Singh said. (Agencies)
