INDIA Bloc MPs stage protest against SIR in Parl Complex

New Delhi, July 29:  Members of the INDIA bloc staged a strong protest in the Parliament House complex on Tuesday, demanding the rollback of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter rolls in Bihar.

Leaders from the Congress, DMK, TMC, RJD, and Left parties gathered at the steps of Makar Dwar before the day’s parliamentary proceedings, raising slogans like “Vote ki chori bandh karo” (stop vote theft) and “SIR wapas lo” (rollback SIR). Holding placards that read “Stop vote loot” and depicting alleged collusion between the Election Commission and the central government, the MPs voiced unified opposition to the ongoing voter list revision.

The opposition has been staging daily protests over the SIR exercise, claiming it is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise voters in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. They have also been pressing for a detailed discussion on the matter in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. (Agencies)
